Results for Week 5; December 7, 2021

Toughest Week Yet!
The league description states, “We will use varying distances and obstacles to create progressively more difficult, and interesting putts.” That was on clear display for week 5. Week 5 had the most difficult layouts of the season. There were a lot of discs on the floor this week scattered around the baskets. Kudos to you for all the made putts.

Putting Challenge: Lay Up, Step up.
The putting challenge was won by Brett Chipman (disc golf cap provided by Elise and Kyle Lieberman), and the 2nd spot was claimed by Path Mehls (UV flashlight). The third spot was chosen by a chip draw and that was won by Bill O’Dell (Buffalo Bills winter hat).

Challenging Putts!
There have been very creative hole layouts this season. Kudos to you folks for your ingenuity. The unusual challenges this week included the upward blowing fan in front of the basket on hole #2, the “throw over the top” putt for tee #2 on basket #3 and the Over/Under on #5. The grumpy little basket of hate in the hallway still hates everyone equally – Don’t take it personally.  If you had a tough week — so did a lot of others. No team reached the 100 point total for any round this week.

Putting Challenge: Ran out of time. Oops.
Unfortunately, I underestimated the time needed for the “Roll and Putt” challenge, so we had to end the challenge before there was a winner. We can do a different putting challenge on week #5.

League Total Points: Top 12 Rounds (4 weeks).
The points for a player’s top 12 rounds (from any 4 weeks) are used for the point totals on the leader board. If a player attended all 5 weeks the lowest 3 round totals will be dropped. If a player attended 4 weeks or less, all of their round points will be use for the leader board. Therefore, next week, week #5, will be “Moving Day”, because some players lower on the leader board have not had 12 rounds of points used for their total points.

Putting Challenge: Short Putt, Long Putt
For the Putting Challenge, Jim Palmeri donated a copy of his excellent book about the history of disc golf, “A CHAIN OF EVENTS, The Origin & Evolution of Disc Golf“, and Throw Pink team member Sherry Herzog donated a pound of coffee. Thank you Jim and Sherry! 1st place was claimed by Bill O’Dell, and 2nd place was taken by Kevin Schlegel. Well done!

Holiday Treats
I want to thank those that brought holiday treats for the last putting league night. As I recall, the folks that showered us with goodies were Lisa Delaparte, Kyle Lieberman and Sherry Herzog. Thank you!

Putting Challenge: Roll and Putt
The Flying Disc Pro Shop (Royce Racinowski) provided another Holiday disc for the putting challenge. The disc for the game I created, called Roll and Putt, was won by Joe Tascione. A double win for Joe as he also got a disc from the Chip Draw.

Putting Challenge: Shuffle Putt
The Flying Disc Pro Shop (Royce Racinowski) provided a Holiday disc for the putting challenge this week. The disc for the game I created, called Shuffle Putt, was won by Pat Mehls. Well done!

A Chain Of Events Book Drawing
Jim Palmeri donated a copy of his excellent book about the history of disc golf, “A CHAIN OF EVENTS, The Origin & Evolution of Disc Golf“. The chip draw for the book was won by Janet Cranshaw. Thanks Jim!

3 Ways To Claim A New Disc: Added Putting Challenge
Because we were very efficient at set up and tear down of the equipment (Thank you for the help!), we have extra time at the end of round 3 for a bonus Putting Challenge. The Putting Challenge will change each week. The better news is that the Flying Disc Pro Shop (Royce Racinowski), has kicked up their sponsorship to include 1 disc each week for the Putting Challenge!

So, now there are 3 ways to grab a new disc from the Flying Disc Pro Shop:
